Hello Everyone,
I hope you are enjoying your clarinet, and thanks as always, for being a part of my community. I have been hearing from clarinetists all over the world, and I appreciate how many people are playing music for the fun (and challenge) it brings into their lives.
This week I am celebrating the 2nd Birthday of the Clarinet Mentors online community. Connecting with all of you, clarinetists from all over the world, has brought me great pleasure during the past two years, and I look forward to sharing many more clarinet ideas, lessons and music. with you in the future. Many of you responded to my very special Birthday offering of a great course that is being offered only until Saturday. (See details below). I really hope you all enjoy the course!
I have been dedicating my past couple of weeks to the Clarinet Mentors community. I am filming new videos for this newsletter, and working on my new course, which keeps growing as I think of more pointers to add into it. Thanks to those of you who expressed interest in the online masterclass/group lessons. I am really looking forward to this, and should be getting details set up in the next week (and I apologize for how long this is taking…it is coming soon…).
I'm also really excited about going to ClarinetFest 2014 in Louisiana at the end of July. I will connect with many of my clarinet friends from around the world. If you will be there, let me know, and we can meet face-to-face!
Enjoy your summer holidays (for those of you in the northern hemisphere) and I hope your clarinet is bringing some fun into your life!
Michelle
Improve Your Clarinet Playing (Without Your Clarinet)
This is the time of year when many people go away on holidays, often without their clarinet. There are some great exercises that you can do to improve your clarinet playing, and focus on a specific area of playing, without your instrument. I sometimes do these while driving, and especially if I am stuck in a traffic jam, it gives me something productive to do.
Today's video gives you an exercise to improve embouchure and voicing, as well as one to work on proper blowing and air support. Next newsletter, I'll give you two other ones. Sometimes our best improvement comes from focusing on one aspect of playing, and these exercises do that for you.

Fun Video By Michael Lowenstern
I always enjoy the clarinet videos by Mike Lowenstern. If you haven't seen any, you should check them out. Here is a great short video of his that ties in perfectly to our theme of exercises to do without your clarinet (and he is wearing a fabulous tee shirt for clarinetists!).
I am sure you have felt this way at some point. If you want a good smile, just watch the first 5 seconds of this video for some fun clarinet humour: (You can click on the image below.)
Last newsletter, I promised you a very special Clarinet Mentors 2nd Birthday Celebration announcement. For this week only, until midnight on Saturday, July 12th, I am offering an amazing sneak peek inside of my new HUGE clarinet course How To Play Clarinet More Easily. I have created a special birthday celebration course for all of you who are already members of my Clarinet Mentors Community to help you move your fingers MUCH more easily around the clarinet. It includes well over 3 hours of instructional videos and worksheets, as well as a bonus, 30-Day Clarinet Workout plan which allows you to invest 10 minutes a day, for 30 days.
You benefit from:
There is also a ridiculously low price, which is why this will only be offered until Saturday night. Once you register, you have access to the materials for at least a year. I will not be offering any more materials from the new course until it is all available, likely in October. (I showed it to a respected colleague who gave me a hard time about offering this so cheaply, but I like to make things available to everyone. Not only that, but there is a full 30-day, 100% money-back offering so that if you don't like it, you get a full refund. How's that for easy?)
How To Solve Your Common Clarinet Frustrations and Play Clarinet More Easily
I firmly believe that if anyone has the "recipe" for how to play clarinet, things are really relatively easy to do. Most of our frustrations come from inadvertently learning bad habits along the way. With that in mind, I have created for you a 10-lesson comprehensive course for beginners (and self-taught intermediate players) that gives you the tools to truly learn the clarinet easily, while avoiding all of the most common frustrations that can plague us. I believe that these lessons can save you hours of grief by giving you the best practise systems that have worked for thousands of clarinetists. The lessons have great content, and are presented in a video format so that you can watch them again and again. If you would like to play with more ease and have a clear understanding of the fundamentals of clarinet playing, you can get more information on the Clarinet Is Easy course here (including some free preview videos):

If you are curious about this, you can try these lessons with a 100% 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. (That means that you can try a full 5 lessons before you decide if you have received great value from the course.) If it is not the right style for you, you get your tuition refunded, no problem. I invite you to try it now! Many students have received amazing results so far from this course (and you can read their comments on the order page).
