Hello!
Welcome to the Clarinet Mentors bi-weekly newsletter. I welcome several new clarinetists to this community since the last newsletter. I hope you find great value in the clarinet pointers and videos that come with these newsletters every two weeks. Feel free to comment on any of the videos on the YouTube page, or by sending me an email. My goal is to continue to make life easier for clarinetists all around the world!
I've gone into a bit of summer holiday mode. There are lots of family holidays, great camping trips and local beach trips on my agenda. In between all of that, I am busy preparing and recording a whole bunch of new, great videos for all of you in the Clarinet Mentors community. Please keep sending me your ideas for any clarinet-related pointers that would help you in future Clarinet Mentors newsletters.
If you have been considering trying out the Clarinet Is Easy course, I've just changed the 100% money-back guarantee to a full 30-day trial period. That means that you could try 5 out of 10 lessons and receive 100% of your money back if you feel that it is not helping you to play the clarinet more easily. (Details below). I'm trying to make it easy for you to learn more!
Have a great week, and thanks for being a part of my community!
Free Training - Hard Finger Passages? Try this ...

I have published several videos on how to improve fingering on the clarinet. When our fingers cannot gracefully keep up to the music, it is very frustrating. With that in mind, the more tools you have to turn frustrations into ease, the more you will enjoy your clarinet!
Michelle Recommends - Michael Lowenstern's Project to Help Student Level Bass Clarinetists
|
For any of you who dabble in bass clarinet, you absolutely should look at the wonderful offerings from Michael Lowenstern. He has recorded some really interesting music with multitrack bass clarinet parts and other cool sounds that could come from a UFO, but somehow work great. You can find his website at www.earspasm.com. He also has several good Youtube videos with tips on playing bass clarinet and the regular clarinet. He knows his stuff, and teaches well.
He recently started a KickStart project that I love, and I am guessing that many of you will want to support it. One of the very best bass clarinet books for beginning to intermediate level player is the Rubank Concert and Contest Collection for Bass Clarinet. Thousands of bass clarinetists have studied from this book, and to date, there are no good recordings of these fine arrangements for bass clarinet and piano. MIchael would like to help bass clarinetists everywhere by providing, at last, a high-quality recording of these pieces, that would include a separate play-along piano track. He is completely volunteering all of his own time and expertise for this project, for the good of bass clarinetists everywhere. In spite of his generous donation of time and performance, there are costs associated with the recording - studio space, accompanist fees etc that need to be covered for it to happen.
Kickstart is a wonderful invention on the internet. This is a site that allows people with a great idea to have a large community help fund a small piece of the project, and backers usually receive a small reward (along with the satisfaction of doing a good deed). On this project, you can donate anything from $1 up to $1500. Each donation level comes with a reward from Michael such as a Skype lesson, or a set of his CD's, or for $1500, he'll even come to your house and hang out with you for an hour!
I am personally helping to back this project, because I know that many students will benefit from this in the future. I also know that Michael does superb work on whatever project he sets his mind to, and I have no doubt that this will be a first-rate set of recordings.
If you would like to do a good deed and spread bass clarinet joy in the world, please consider adding your name to the list of sponsors by clicking the link above, or the image below.
Your contribution, however small, will help to spread great clarinet education in the world.

How To Solve Your Common Clarinet Frustrations and Play Clarinet More Easily
I firmly believe that if anyone has the "recipe" for how to play clarinet, things are really relatively easy to do. Most of our frustrations come from inadvertently learning bad habits along the way. With that in mind, I have created for you a 10-lesson comprehensive course for beginners (and self-taught intermediate players) that gives you the tools to truly learn the clarinet easily, while avoiding all of the most common frustrations that can plague us. I believe that these lessons can save you hours of grief by giving you the best practise systems that have worked for hundreds of clarinetists. The lessons have great content, and are presented in a video format so that you can watch them again and again. If you would like to play with more ease and have a clear understanding of the fundamentals of clarinet playing, you can get more information on the Clarinet Is Easy course here (including some free preview videos):

If you are curious about this, you can try these lessons with a 100% 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. (That means that you can try a full 5 lessons before you decide if you have received great value from the course.) If it is not the right style for you, you get your tuition refunded, no problem. I invite you to try it now! Many students have received amazing results so far from this course (and you can read their comments on the order page).
